What does the tux look like? We don't know!

Maybe it's just me since I haven't done this before but is it typical for a tuxedo rental place to not have any samples for you to try on before you order the tuxes for a wedding? Joe and I went to a place about a month or so ago and they had him try on a few options...but didn't have a very big selection. We went to another location yesterday thinking we would be making the final decision. It seems they don't have anything for Joe to try on to see how he looks in his potential wedding tux. REALLY? How is this possible? This is a pretty big chain we were at. We were both so stunned we literally just sat there staring at each other. Joe finally said we would have to think it over and we left. I'm extremely annoyed and find it to be unprofessional. We were really hoping to wrap this up yesterday so we could tell everyone what they needed to do. Is this normal? Are we really supposed to pick something for the wedding day that we have no idea how it looks?
